Timbi Talks is a nonprofit providing evidence-informed, research-backed resources that help children of parents with addiction build resilience through story, connection, and play—empowering families to heal and prevent the lifelong impact of trauma.

Healing begins with hope. Prevention begins with connection.
Timbi Talks empowers children and caregivers with evidence-based information and practices to prevent the long-term impacts of parental addiction. Through story, connection, and play, we turn complex science into simple, effective tools to build resilience and healing.

How Timbi Works
Children affected by parental substance use often live in a heightened state of stress. Addiction is a disease, not a choice, and kids need to know they are not to blame. Healing begins with safety and connection: when caring adults project calm, offer comfort, and name what’s happening, children begin to feel secure again—and their brains can begin to rewire in positive ways.
Research shows that labeling emotions reduces their intensity, while simple grounding and breathing practices help restore calm. Hugs and gentle touch are deeply therapeutic, and when adults aren’t immediately available, Timbi offers that same sense of comfort and connection.
These small, consistent experiences build resilience. Children learn that emotions come and go — and that they have tools to steady themselves when life feels overwhelming.
The Timbi approach is grounded in neuroscience, Polyvagal Theory, and the mitigating effects of Positive Childhood Experiences (PCEs) — evidence-based practices recognized by the CDC and the American Academy of Pediatrics.

About Timbi Talks Corp
Since 2018, Timbi Talks has reached thousands of children and families. In 2023, we became a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit dedicated to advancing prevention through connection, regulation, and healing, as reflected in our mission-driven cover redesign.
We believe prevention begins early — with emotional literacy, safety, and connection.
Our books and materials give children the language and skills to understand addiction, manage big feelings, and build resilience long before crises take root. Rooted in neuroscience and trauma-informed care, our approach translates the latest research into accessible, evidence-based tools that help families and professionals support children’s growth and healing.
